A pause before you begin

Breathe with the light for three rounds.

In for four, hold for four, out for six. A longer exhale tells the body it is safe to rest. Nothing else is asked of you here.

The idea behind it

Everything in the universe is vibration. Your heartbeat, your breath, the brass bowl in our hands. Stress pulls these rhythms out of tune with one another. Sound gives the body one steady tone to follow, and slowly, it remembers how to resonate.

Where we are

Above the valley, below the peaks

Divyalaya sits in the hills on the rim of the Kathmandu Valley. Mornings begin with mist pooled in the valley and a white wall of Himalaya on the horizon. Evenings end with butter lamps, prayer flags in the wind and the bowls.

Before you come

Questions, gently answered

Can’t find what you need? Write to us from the form below and we reply within a day.

I have never tried sound healing. Is that okay?

Yes. Most of our guests are first-timers. You simply lie down on a mat with a blanket and listen. There is nothing to learn and nothing to get right.

What should I wear and bring?

Loose, layered clothing and warm socks, as the hall cools in the evening. We provide mats, cushions, blankets and eye pillows. Bring a water bottle.

Is it safe for everyone?

It is gentle for most people. If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or metal implants, epilepsy, or strong sensitivity to sound, tell us when you book and check with your doctor first. We can adapt the session or keep the bowls off the body.

How do I get there?

We are about 45 minutes by car from Thamel. Retreat stays include pickup from Kathmandu airport or your hotel. For single sessions we send a map pin and can book a taxi for you.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Sessions can be moved free of charge up to 24 hours before. Retreat deposits are refundable up to 14 days before arrival, and dates can be moved at any time, subject to availability.

How do I pay?

Pay on arrival in Nepali rupees, US dollars or by card. Retreats are held with a 20% deposit, which we arrange by email after confirming your dates.
